Our story begins just over 40 years ago, when our founder saw a need for wider-fitting women’s shoes that didn’t compromise on style or comfort. Using his expertise in footwear manufacturing, he set out to create a line of shoes with a difference -thoughtfully designed to be soft, spacious and supportive.
The first collection of Softlites® quickly caught on and it wasn’t long before we expanded into menswear and childrenswear too. Staying true to our roots, we continue to focus on wider-fitting styles and innovative comfort features in every design.

Our Heritage: British Craftsmanship
While Softlites® has grown into an international brand, our heritage lies in British craftsmanship and workshop culture. Our founder started the company in a small English factory nearly 40 years ago. Today, we still operate our own UK-based manufacturing facilities where we lovingly create select styles.
Our master craftspeople blend generations of shoemaking expertise with modern technology to produce exceptional quality and comfort. Their skills include complex tasks barely changed since the Victorian era – like precision hand-lasting techniques to shape each upper over comfort footbeds.
We also maintain close ties to England’s traditional tanneries and textile mills. This helps us access the finest leathers, suedes and woolens to create our signature softly tailored looks. Our English workshops allow us to rapidly prototype new designs and provide artisanal customization services.
While we’ve expanded our facilities globally, our British heritage infuses everything we do. The hands-on care and quality of our English artisans inspires our commitment to excellence worldwide. We’re proud to still craft select Softlites® styles in Britain using centuries-old techniques – and pair this heritage with modern innovation in our comfort technologies.
